What conditions are contraindicated for Lymphatic Drainage?

What is the Lymphatic System?

The lymphatic systemย is responsible forย cleansing muscles, tissues, and organs and carrying metabolic waste throughout the body. This waste includes water, glucose, salts, proteins, fats, white blood cells, and other cellular debris.ย

Lymph flowsย just below the skin and deep within the body. You may notice lymphย nodes around the neck, groin, or armpits. Major lymph pathways also flow around the heart and lungs. Lymph nodes are primarily found from the head to the knee, while the system extends throughout the entire body.ย

Who are (MLD) treatments good for?

Most clients come on physician recommendations after surgery. Common concerns include lymph node removal due toย breast cancer. Othersย seekย lymphatic drainage treatmentย to support recovery after facial, knee, hip, abdominal, or back surgery. Some clients visit to stimulate lymph flow to help prevent illness or infection.ย Nearly everyoneย canย benefitย from improved lymph circulation, especially those looking to detox the body.ย

Why Lymphatic Drainage Therapy Is Beneficial

A stagnant lymphatic system is like bath water left sitting for days. Unlike other systems in the body, the lymphatic system has no internal pump. Lymph moves through bodyย movement, making gentle therapies likeย lymphatic drainage massageย important forย maintainingย healthy circulation and overall wellness.ย

To help you better understand our services.

1. What is lymphatic drainage massage?

Lymphatic drainage massage is a very gentle treatment. It helps move fluids that can buildย upย the body. When that fluid moves, swelling usually feels better, and the body feels lighter.ย

2. How is manual lymphatic drainage massage different from a normal massage?

Manual lymphatic drainage massage is nothing like a deep massage.ย Thereโ€™sย no pressure and no muscle work. The touch is soft and slow.ย Itโ€™sย meant to help lymph move, not to work on sore spots.ย

3. Who usually comes in for lymphatic drainage treatment?

Most people come in after surgery because their doctor suggested it. We often see clients after face, stomach, knee, hip, or back surgery. Some people also come in because they deal with swelling all the time.ย

4. Can lymphatic drainage massage be done right after surgery?

In many cases, yes. Lymphatic drainage massage can often start the next day. Every surgery is different, soย itโ€™sย important to follow what your doctor says.ย

5. Does lymphatic drainage treatment really help with swelling?

Yes, it does. Lymphatic drainage treatment helps your body move extra fluid out. When that fluid moves, swelling can goย down,ย and recovery can feel easier.ย

6. Is manual lymphatic drainage massage only for people who had surgery?

No. Surgery clients use it the most, butย manual lymphatic drainage massageย can also help with circulation, immune support, and general body balance.ย

7. How often should lymphatic drainage massage be done?

After surgery, most people come a few times a week forย a short time. Others book lymphatic drainage massage weekly or whenever they feel swollen or off.ย
